Let your band be heard!
If you or someone you know may be interested in competing in one of our regional competitions taking place throughout the year, be sure to check this website often. As Host Sites submit and update their event info, you will be able to contact them directly about participating. You can check out regional competitions on our Upcoming Events page. Bands can only hold one regional spot, but can participate in any locals they want. You no longer need to qualify at a local to participate in a regional event. Competing bands should download and complete this information packet. Please bring this completed packet to your regional competition.
Just so you know, all of our competitions have a few basic rules:
This event is for teens, so all band members must be between the ages of 12-21 with at least half of the members 19 or under as of the date of the state finals.
This event is for bands only. For the purpose of this competition, a band is made up of at least two people and at least one of those members must play an instrument throughout the majority of the song. Vocals are not a requirement if there are at least two members playing musical instruments throughout the majority of the song. Pre-recorded music is not allowed, unless it's being altered in some way live on stage (mixing records for example).
Because this is the Illinois Battle of the Bands competition, bands must be from Illinois.
Bands must be unsigned.
Performances must be family friendly, so that means that lyrics, band name, clothing, etc. must be free of any obscenities or references to drugs or alcohol.
Please note, some local competitions may have additional or stricter versions of these rules (age range may be high school only or bands may be required to live in the town hosting the event, for example).
